Rising Flame Devlog #2 - December 14 2020

Hello everybody ! Welcome to this Rising Flame devlog !

Welcome in this second devlog of the game! I’ll try to update it frequently. So, I’m guessing most of you don’t even know what is this is game or what it’s about?

Well it’s an Adventure / Tactical RPG heavily inspired by the Shining Force series! The objective of this game for me is mainly to propose a tactical RPG which is not only about the battles but also exploration / adventure, a narration inspired by the 16-bit era of JRPGs and of course a medieval fantasy world.

So what I've been doing the past two weeks ? Let's take a look.

To begin with, now the game works in 16:9 ! What does it means ? Well I let you see :

Instead of playing in 4:3 (first image, like the good old' TV), you can play it in 16:9 which is the standard for modern screens. It should be better on any modern screens / TV.

Second thing, a quite big thing has been done : The shops ! You now have a shop for general stuff (Potions, Herbs, etc...)

But I also implemented Armory & Weapons shops :

As you can see, while it needs some tiny graphics refactors, it tells you for each characters how it will improve their abilities. It will even propose you to equip it right away and sell your old weapon ! Pretty convenient, isn't it?

Also I've been updating the UI (internally) and now you can equip / unequip yourself anywhere you want.

Talking about shops, you can listen here the shop theme (not a Youtube link this time) : https://mega.nz/file/aQ1i1ZAT#7_3FXS4uIwqT0EIkR0svChmqMNyKQI-rVlZ1Sud5mG0

Finally, I have something I haven't shown you past weeks but I'm training myself to make some pixel art for my game (as many sprites are currently coming from various games... Like Shining Force for instance lol) :

- So we have here an archer :

- I also made a swordman :

Although someone in the Shining Fanwork community (Which I thanks very much) remade the sword man in a much better way (thank you Corsair for this work):

What a slap in the face ! Much better than what I did, he's really good. But still I'm learning, and constructive criticism is highly welcome. I've also started some battle backgrounds but nothing presentable yet... Maybe next time !

Thank you for reading and see you soon !
